Hi Ginette. These are the designs for your new website, page by page. Use the Page menu above to move between pages, and the Phone and Desktop buttons to see how each one looks on a mobile and on a computer. They are best viewed on a laptop or desktop.
This is a design, not the finished website yet, so some buttons and links don’t go anywhere. Everything you see is built from what you’ve told me, so please tell me if anything isn’t right.
Steps 1 to 7 are done. Step 8 is where we are now, and step 9 comes next.
Thirteen page designs and your brand guide. Each link opens the page’s card in Basecamp, with a link to its design and two steps to tick: share your thoughts, then approve.
The words for these pages and your policies are now in your Google Doc. Each link opens its card in Basecamp. I’ll design each page, and add the policies to the website, once you’re happy with the words.
Your logo, colours, fonts, icons and photo style are all in one place, so the website, flyers, social posts and fleece patches all look like McG’s Tors and Moor.
Design concept for McG’s Tors and Moor, 16 October 2026. Dates, prices and places left are examples.

If you’re new, start with an easy hike: around 5 km with short climbs, taking about two and a half hours at group pace. If 5 km feels easy, a moderate hike of up to 12 miles is your next challenge. Challenging hikes are for pushing your boundaries in a supportive group.

Anyone who walks regularly is welcome on a challenging hike. If you’re unsure, try a moderate walk first, or ask me for a few training tips. Older walkers are always welcome on any hike that suits them, and an easier walk is a good place to start if you’re not sure.

You’ll need shoes with good grip, layers and water. I send a kit list before every hike, and I’m happy to advise.
Some start points, such as Surprise View car park, have a bus stop, and lifts are often shared through the WhatsApp group. Toilets vary from route to route, and each listing says what to expect.
I have been on so many of Ginette’s walks and I’ve loved them all. She is fun, friendly and very knowledgeable. I often go solo and it’s been great to meet other people who enjoy adventures outdoors.
These are the basics.
I lead every hike myself. I’m a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and a member of the Mountain Training Association, with a Level 3 outdoor first aid award and paediatric first aid. I’m insured for £2.5 million public liability. History is part of every walk, and on some I talk about plants, wildlife and geology too.
I also appeared briefly in the Green Spaces Dark Skies film, shown on Countryfile on 30 October 2022.
The price for each date is on its card and on Eventbrite. As a rough guide, family hikes are about £5 a head, easy hikes £10 to £12.50, moderate hikes about £17.50, full days £25 to £30 and dark skies walks about £20. [Current prices for you to confirm.] Hikes run in most weathers. I only cancel or postpone if the weather is dangerous, and then you can move to a new date or have a full refund.
Each date shows its price on its card and on Eventbrite, where you book and pay. A five-hike pass costs £50 and can be used on easy and moderate hikes, though not on dark skies walks. It lasts 18 months and is for one person. Gift vouchers come in £25, £50 and £75, can be used on any hike within 12 months, and are sent by email.
Hikes run in most weathers. I check the forecast on three weather sources through the week before a hike, and make the final decision 24 hours before we set off. I only cancel or postpone a hike if the weather is dangerous. For example, I may rearrange a high-level walk when a low-level route would still go ahead. I’ll then offer a new date, and you can move your ticket or have a full refund.
Tickets aren’t refundable, but you’re very welcome to pass yours on or sell it to someone else. Please let me know who’s coming in your place before the day, and ask them to fill in the health form, so I have their details and an emergency contact before we set off. If I have to cancel for the weather, you can move to a new date or have a full refund.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on most hikes. They stay on a lead near livestock all year, and on the moorland during the ground-nesting bird season. If I decide a hike isn’t suitable for dogs, the Eventbrite listing says so before you book. Dogs don’t come on dark skies walks, though.
Yes, on family hikes, which take all ages as long as a parent or guardian walks with them for the whole hike. Each child needs their own ticket and counts towards the group size. Family hikes mostly run in the school holidays, and the routes aren’t suitable for pushchairs. Over-16s are welcome on easy and moderate hikes with a parent. Dark skies walks are for over-18s.
[For you to approve, or we drop the question.] Free ranger walks and walking groups are a lovely way to get outdoors. My walks are small groups of up to 15, led by a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with outdoor first aid, at a slower pace. There’s time to learn about the history, plants and wildlife as we go, and to pick up hill skills such as reading the weather.
Gift vouchers come in £25, £50 and £75. They can be used on any hike, are valid for 12 months and are sent by email, so they suit a birthday, or a friend who keeps saying they’d like to try hiking. A five-hike pass costs £50 and covers easy and moderate hikes. [How vouchers are paid for, for you to confirm.]

Recent easy hikes have started from Surprise View, Curbar Gap and Upper Burbage, on the eastern edges of the Peak District. Each listing gives the distance, time and parking before you book. History is part of every walk, so you’ll hear a little about the places we pass as we go.
There’s a bus stop at Surprise View car park, so you can get there without a car. Past walks here include our Easy Autumn Guided Hike.
Curbar Edge has long been my happy place, and it’s a lovely spot for a sunset, as on our Easy Woodland and Edge Sunset Walk. By bus, get off at Curbar or Calver and walk up to the meeting spot.
It’s an early start, and we watch the first light come up over the valley.

I lead every hike myself. I’m a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with a Level 3 outdoor first aid award, and I’m insured for £2.5 million public liability. Hill and Moorland Leaders are trained in outdoor group management, so I plan every easy walk around the pace of the slowest walker.
As we walk, I point out the local history, and on some walks the plants, wildlife and geology too. I’m always happy to share tips on kit, the best way to get down a hill, how to avoid the boggy bits and how to read the weather and the clouds.
Easy hikes cost around £10 to £12.50 a person [Current prices for you to confirm.], and the price for each date is on its card and on Eventbrite.

Boots or sturdy trail shoes with good grip matter most. Grippy trainers are fine on easy and family hikes when it’s dry, though feet may get wet or muddy. Bring a waterproof coat, warm layers, snacks and water. I send a full kit list after you book, with how much water to bring for the length of the hike. If footwear isn’t suitable on the day, you may not be able to take part, and the ticket isn’t refunded.
Some start and finish points have toilets, and some don’t, as we walk through hills and moorland. Each Eventbrite listing says which before you book. Where there are none, I’ll point out a suitable spot for a wild wee along the way.
The meeting point and parking are on each Eventbrite listing, and I confirm them after you book. I try to start hikes near a bus or train stop, though some start points are remote. There’s a bus stop at Surprise View car park. Lifts are often shared through our WhatsApp community group, and you’re welcome to ask me to add you.

More are coming in spring, and new dates go to the WhatsApp group first. Once you’ve booked a walk, ask me to add you to the group. You’re also welcome to send me a message, or look at all upcoming hikes, including mixed walks.
Most women-only hikes are Easy or Moderate, and they use the same grades as all my walks. Easy hikes are around 5 km with short climbs and take about two and a half hours. Moderate hikes run up to 12 miles or have longer hill sections. The price of each date is on its card and on Eventbrite.
| Grade | Distance | Hills | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | Around 5 km, about 2.5 hours | Short climbs | First-timers and anyone who would like a gentler pace |
| Moderate | Up to 12 miles | Longer hill sections | Anyone who finds 5 km easy and would like the next challenge |
A walk listed as “Easy/Moderate” counts as Moderate, because of the climbs. If you’re not sure which to pick, an Easy hike is a good place to start.
[Rough price guide for women-only hikes, for you to confirm]
The five-hike pass costs £50 and covers Easy and Moderate hikes. Gift vouchers come in £25, £50 and £75.

Buy a gift voucherIt’s a small, friendly group of women walking at the pace of whoever needs it, with plenty of time for stops, snacks and photos. We start with a quick briefing so everyone is introduced, and nobody has to chat if they’d rather not. About half of my walkers come on their own, and feeling nervous beforehand is completely normal.
There is nothing better than seeing women supporting women. Our women only hikes create a safe, judgment-free space where women can build confidence, learn outdoor skills at their own pace, and connect with a supportive community. There’s no ‘mansplaining’ here.
Lots of women book on their own. Feeling anxious is completely normal, and it’s a friendly way to meet like-minded people. If you’d like to share a lift, you’re welcome to ask me to add you to our WhatsApp community group.
I have been on so many of Ginette’s walks and I’ve loved them all. She is fun, friendly and very knowledgeable. I often go solo and it’s been great to meet other people who enjoy adventures outdoors.
Pick a date, and you get a confirmation straight away.
I email the meeting point and a short health form, which only I see.
I set the pace to suit the group, with plenty of stops, and share local history, plants and wildlife along the way.
I share photos afterwards, and you can ask me to add you to the WhatsApp group.
I send a full kit list after you book, with how much water to bring for the length of the hike.
Every women-only hike is led by me, Ginette. I’m a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and a member of the Mountain Training Association, with a Level 3 outdoor first aid award. I’m insured for £2.5 million public liability. History is part of every walk, and on some I’ll talk about plants, wildlife and geology too.
Kerrie from Retford said she valued “her knowledge and laid back approach”.
Most questions are about coming alone, keeping up and what to bring. Coming alone is very common, the whole group walks at the slower pace, and I send a kit list before every hike. Each Eventbrite listing says whether a hike is women only. If your question isn’t answered here, please send me a message.
Yes. Every Eventbrite listing says whether a hike is women only, mixed or for families. Women-only hikes are open to all women.
Yes, and I encourage it. About half of my walkers book on their own, not counting family hikes. We start with a quick briefing where everyone is introduced, and there’s no expectation to join in the conversation if you’d rather not, though most people enjoy meeting like-minded walkers. Feeling anxious beforehand is completely normal, and you’re welcome to message me first.
Yes. If anyone needs to walk slower, the whole group walks at a slower pace, so nobody gets left behind. I set the pace to suit the group, with plenty of time for stops, snacks and photos. Hill and Moorland Leaders are trained in outdoor group management, and I find a slower pace gives everyone a better connection with the outdoors.
Older walkers are always welcome on any hike that suits them. If you’re unsure, I recommend starting with one of the easier walks.
Free groups are a lovely way to walk, and I’d encourage anyone to try one. My walks are small and led by a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with first aid training. [For you to approve]
Thank you for the very informative walk, making it accessible for me and my dodgy back. I will be booking again.
You’re very welcome to message me before booking, whether it’s about the route, your fitness or coming on your own. Use the form below, email ginette@mcgstorsandmoor.uk, or call, text or WhatsApp 07506 492230. If I don’t pick up, please leave a message and I will get back to you. I can also add you to our WhatsApp community group, where walkers share lifts and new dates go up first.
If you and a group of friends would like a walk of your own, I also run private group hikes.
Family hikes are guided walks for children of all ages, with a parent or guardian along for the whole walk. They are usually 5 to 8 km at an easy pace, with plenty of stops, and I plan them to be fun, hands on and educational. Three generations have walked with us, and our youngest walker so far was four.
I’m based in Calverton, near Nottingham, and the walks start in the Peak District.
Every date below is a family hike you can book now on Eventbrite, at the price shown on the card. Family hikes usually run in the school holidays and half terms, and a few weekend dates may be added. They tend to sell out, so it helps to book early. Everyone who walks, children included, needs a short health form before the day, and a parent or guardian fills it in for anyone under 18.

Children learn as they walk. History is part of every walk, and we look at local plants, wildlife and rocks, and find out how to read the weather and the clouds. I’m trained in Forest School leadership to Level 3, so each walk is planned around children, with time to stop, look and ask questions.
There are games along the way, and on some walks I put hammocks up for the lunch stop. Some walks have a theme, such as the October half-term Trick or Treat fungi hike, where the children go on a fungi hunt. Children love to overcome an obstacle.
You book on Eventbrite, I send a kit list and a short health form, and we meet at the start point shown on the listing. I set the pace to suit the group, and the whole group walks at the pace of the slowest walker. There are usually a couple of quick snack stops and a longer lunch stop, plus plenty of unplanned stops for photos, rocks, lichen and fungi.
Pick a date, and you get a confirmation straight away.
I email the meeting point and a short health form, which only I see.
I set the pace to suit the group, and we stop often for snacks, photos and a breather.

Family hikes are usually 5 to 8 km and take about [typical time for a family hike, for you to confirm].
Some routes have toilets at the start or finish, and some don’t. Each listing says which, and where there are none, I’ll point out a suitable spot for a wild wee.
Recent family hikes have started from Surprise View car park, Birchover Stone Quarry car park and Hooks Carr car park. There’s a bus stop at Surprise View car park, and lifts are often shared in our WhatsApp group. Parking details are on each Eventbrite listing.
Trainers with good grip are fine if it’s dry, though feet may well get wet or muddy, and hiking boots or sturdy trail shoes are on the kit list. A waterproof coat is a must, as low cloud can come in on the hills and moorland. Bring warm layers, water (about 1 litre each for up to 3 hours) and extra snacks for the children. I send a full kit list after you book. If footwear isn’t suitable on the day, that walker may not be able to take part, and the ticket isn’t refunded.
I lead every family hike myself. I’m a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with outdoor and paediatric first aid, and I’m insured for £2.5 million public liability. Every child walks with a parent or guardian for the whole hike.
I ask permission before taking photos at the start of each hike. If you’d rather I didn’t, I’m happy to take photos on your own phone instead. I never share names, and I only share a child’s face with a parent’s permission.
Family hikes are open to all ages, from little walkers to grandparents, as long as a parent or guardian comes too. Children need to walk the distance or be carried by a parent. Our youngest walker so far was four, and three generations have walked together.
The routes aren’t suitable for pushchairs. Most hikes aren’t wheelchair friendly either, but I can arrange a private route that is, and walks without stiles will be marked. If your child has extra needs, please have a chat with me first, and we can work out together whether a walk suits.
Over-16s are welcome on our Easy and Moderate hikes with a parent, so older children who’d like a longer walk can join you on those. Older walkers are welcome on any hike that suits them, and if you’re unsure, an easier walk is a good place to start.
For a walk just for your own family, have a look at private groups.

Family hikes are £5 a person, so a family of four pays £20 for a guided day out. [Current prices for you to confirm.] The price for each date is on its card and on Eventbrite.
I keep the price low on purpose. With the cost of living as it is, I’d like families to be able to get their children outdoors and learn how to stay safe there. [For you to approve: from our first call, not yet in writing.]

Some start and finish points have toilets, and some don’t, as we walk through hills and moorland. Each Eventbrite listing says which before you book. Where there are none, I’ll point out a suitable spot for a wild wee along the way.

Yes, every child under 18 walks with a parent or guardian for the whole hike. Parents and carers stay with their child at all times and are responsible for their behaviour. I’m responsible for safety, group management and emergencies.

These are guided evening walks on or near new-moon nights, when the sky is at its darkest. We walk about 5 km at group pace from Surprise View or Upper Burbage Bridge, then stop, let our eyes adjust and look up. Groups are up to 8 people, and the walks run all year round.
McG’s Tors and Moor runs these walks on new-moon evenings, led by me, Ginette McGrory, a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader. I’m based in Calverton, just outside Nottingham, and lifts are often shared through our WhatsApp group.
Each date below links to its Eventbrite listing, which shows the price, meeting time and parking details. Dates follow the new moon, so they move a little each month. We meet about half an hour before sundown for a short briefing, then walk at group pace with head torches on red light, which keeps your night vision. Once we stop, your eyes take up to 20 minutes to adjust. I know a few incredible rocks to perch or lie on, and from there I share the constellations of the season and the stories behind them.
The walk is about 5 km. [Walk time and finish time to confirm] We all walk at a slower pace, with plenty of stops, and I set the pace to suit the group. Nobody gets left behind.
There is always a bit of history along the way, too.
Her historical knowledge of landmarks really adds a special edge.
Dark skies walks start from the Surprise View car park or the Upper Burbage Bridge car park, and each Eventbrite listing says which, with the parking details. Surprise View is one of the Peak District National Park’s three Dark Sky Discovery Sites. Its car park is sometimes locked at night, so I use it on darker evenings when we can be back in good time. Please check the start point and time on each booking.
There is a bus stop at the Surprise View car park. If you would like to share a lift, ask me to add you to our WhatsApp group, where walkers often arrange them.
The other two Dark Sky Discovery Sites are Parsley Hay and Minninglow. The National Park has more about all three on its dark skies page (opens in a new tab).
The paths are uneven, so these walks are not suitable for wheelchairs.
The walk goes ahead whatever the cloud. I only count a night as clouded out if it’s fully overcast for the whole walk and we can’t see the night sky at all. If that happens, you get a free place on a clear night, valid for 24 months, and the dark and the stories are still there. I only cancel or postpone if the weather is dangerous, and then you can move to a new date or have a full refund.

Bring more warm layers than you think you’ll need, because it gets cold once we stop. A hat, gloves and a hot flask make a big difference, and a blanket or sit mat keeps you off the cold ground. Please bring your own head torch with a red light setting, as I only have two red-light torches so far.
I send a full kit list before every walk, and I’m happy to advise.
Two or three thin warm layers work better than one thick one.
I’m a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with Level 3 outdoor first aid, and I’m confident leading in the dark. My insurance and qualifications cover night walks too.
Surprise View is a perfect spot for dark skies. I have been there on my own to watch the Perseid meteor shower, and I appeared briefly in the Green Spaces Dark Skies film, shown on Countryfile on 30 October 2022.
Dark skies walks are about £20 each [Current prices for you to confirm.], and the price for each date is shown on its card and on Eventbrite. They are not included in the five-hike pass. This is a small guided walk with stories under the stars, and it suits curious adults, friends and couples, and anyone who fancies something different from a daytime hike.

These are the walks that mark a moment in the year: sunrise at Higger Tor, sunset at Curbar Edge, the Winter Solstice, a walk between Christmas and New Year, a women-only walk at Halloween, and Hike and Yoga by a lake in the Lake District. They run a few times a year rather than every week. I lead every one, at a pace that suits the group.
Stargazing walks have their own page: Dark skies walks.
These are the special walks you can book now, soonest first. Each card shows the date, start time, start area, grade, distance, time and price, and says if the walk is women only. Sunrise and winter walks show the start time clearly, because some begin before it is light.

Through the year I run sunrise walks at Higger Tor, sunset walks at Curbar Edge, a Winter Solstice walk from Birchover, a walk between Christmas and New Year, a women-only walk at Halloween and Hike and Yoga in the Lake District. Most of them have run before, and new dates go up as each season comes round.
History is part of every walk, more on some than others, and some walks include a little about the plants, wildlife and rocks along the way.
Her historical knowledge of landmarks really adds a special edge it’s hard to get anywhere else.
We set off early from Upper Burbage to watch the sun come up from Higger Tor. The next one is on Saturday 28 November 2026. The last two ran on Sunday 18 January 2026 at 7.45am, graded Easy, and on Saturday 26 September 2026 at 6.15am.
Mam Tor is wonderful for sunrise too, and I am planning a Mam Tor sunrise walk early in 2027 [date to confirm].
We walk together from Birchover on the shortest day of the year. This year’s walk is on Monday 21 December 2026, and it is on sale now [start time, distance and grade to confirm from the Eventbrite listing]. The last one ran on Sunday 21 December 2025 at 1pm, also from Birchover.
[Sunset time on 21 December 2026, and whether the walk finishes by head torch, to confirm.]
I will be leading a walk in the quiet days between Christmas and New Year [date, place and price to confirm]. In past years I have led a free walk at Bamford Edge at this time of year for the charity The Well-being Way.
We take an easy walk to the lake at Loweswater in the Lake District, then do a yoga session on the shore with my friend Naomi Halsall, a qualified yoga instructor (@naomi.exploreyoga (opens Instagram) on Instagram). It is a day out, not a residential retreat, and it suits beginners. Well-behaved dogs have come along too.
The last one ran on Saturday 29 August 2026 at 9.30am, from £35. More dates are planned for 2027 [dates to confirm].
This is an easy woodland and edge walk, timed to watch the sun go down from Curbar Edge, my happy place. People often ask about Mam Tor at sunset, but the sun goes down behind Kinder Scout, which is higher and often in cloud, so I keep Mam Tor for sunrise.
The last one ran on Sunday 30 November 2025 at 1pm, from Curbar Gap. If you are coming by bus, get off at Curbar or Calver, and it is a walk up to the meeting point.
This is a women-only sunset walk from Curbar Gap at Halloween, open to all women. This year’s walk is on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 3.30pm.
Families have their own half-term Halloween walk: see family hikes.
We all walk at a slower pace, with plenty of stops, and I set the pace to suit the group. Nobody gets left behind. Sunrise and winter walks can start or finish in the dark and the cold, so a head torch, warm layers, a hat, gloves and a flask of something hot all help. If snow or ice would call for microspikes, I move the walk to a lower route or a new date.
Lots of people book on their own. Feeling anxious is completely normal, and it’s a friendly way to meet like-minded people.
Older walkers are always welcome on any walk that suits them. If you are unsure, an easier walk is a good place to start.

Each walk is priced on its own, and the price is on the card and on Eventbrite before you book [a rough price range for seasonal walks, once you confirm current prices].
The walk goes ahead whatever the cloud is doing. Unlike dark skies walks, there is no free return place. I still think it is worth being out on the hills as the day begins or ends, cloud or no cloud.

I’m planning small-group weekends in the Peak District that bring together guided hikes, yoga and a first go at climbing, with two nights at a youth hostel and your meals included. Everything is organised for you, from the routes to the food.
The first weekends are planned for summer 2027. Dates and prices aren’t set yet, so for now you can join the interest list and hear first when they are.
Each weekend is planned so you don’t have to think about anything once you arrive. This is what I’m planning, and the final details will be on this page before bookings open.
Travel to the hostel isn’t included. [For you to confirm]
This is an example of how a weekend could run. The plan for each weekend will depend on the hostel, the season and the weather. [The outline below, for you to confirm]
Arrive at the hostel in the late afternoon or early evening, settle in and meet everyone over dinner. I’ll run through the plan for the weekend and answer any questions.
After breakfast we head out on a guided hike, at a pace that suits the group, with plenty of stops. Back at the hostel there’s time to rest before an evening yoga session and dinner.
In the morning the climbing instructor runs a session that starts from the basics. After that there’s a gentle yoga session or a shorter walk, and lunch before everyone heads home.
The weekends are for adults who would love a break in the hills without having to plan it. You don’t need to have climbed or done yoga before. About half of the adults who book my walks come on their own, so if you’re coming alone, you won’t be the only one. [Women-only, mixed, or both, for you to confirm]
Good to know.
The weekends are for over-18s. [For you to confirm]
The hikes are planned for most fitness levels. If you can walk for a few hours with stops, you’ll be fine. [The grade of the hikes, for you to confirm]
They aren’t mountain challenges or luxury retreats. The hostel is comfortable and simple. [For you to confirm]
I plan and lead the walking myself. I’m a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader, with a Level 3 outdoor first aid award and £2.5 million public liability insurance. I’ve been the qualified leader on a women-only weekend retreat at Malham Cove, and I love planning routes that take in quieter places as well as the well-known ones. [Both points above, for you to confirm]
Naomi Halsall leads the yoga. She’s a qualified yoga instructor, and we’ve run Hike and Yoga days together. [Naomi’s OK to be named and linked to @naomi.exploreyoga, for you to confirm]
A qualified climbing instructor leads the climbing session and brings all the kit. [The instructor’s name and qualification, once booked, for you to confirm]
[Your insurer to confirm cover for weekend activities and for you as the organiser]
The weekends aren’t available to book yet. When the dates, prices and full details are confirmed, everyone on the interest list will hear first, and the details will be on this page. Joining the list doesn’t reserve a place or ask you to pay anything.
When bookings open, every weekend will come with the financial protection the Package Travel Regulations require, so your money is looked after. [The name of the protection scheme, once it is in place]
Most questions are about coming on your own, fitness and climbing for the first time. If yours isn’t answered here, please send me a message.
Yes. About half of the adults who book my walks come on their own. I introduce everyone at the start of the weekend, just as I do on my day hikes.
No. The climbing instructor starts from the basics, provides all the kit and keeps you safe on the rope. [For you to confirm]
If you can walk for a few hours with stops, you’ll be fine. The whole group walks at the pace of whoever needs it, so nobody gets left behind. [The grade of the hikes, for you to confirm]
[Room types at the hostel, and whether a private room is available, for you to confirm]
[Who prepares the food, and how dietary needs and allergies are handled, for you to confirm]
The price isn’t set yet. It will be on this page, and sent to everyone on the interest list, before bookings open.
When bookings open, every weekend will come with the financial protection the Package Travel Regulations require.
[Whether private weekends will be offered, for you to confirm]
I’ll send a full kit list when you book. You’ll need boots or sturdy trail shoes with good grip, a waterproof coat, warm layers and comfortable clothes for yoga.
Add your name and email, and I’ll let you know when the first weekend dates and prices are confirmed. There’s no cost and no commitment, and joining the list doesn’t reserve a place.
I loved the stone circle especially as the sun was setting.
These are messages and comments from people who have walked with me, in their own words.
Each walker gave permission for their words to be shared here, with their first name and town only. Where a review is shortened, the cut is marked with an ellipsis. [Line on how to send a review, once you tell me how you would like them.]
Not only does Ginette cater for all abilities, organising beautiful routes, her historical knowledge of landmarks really adds a special edge it’s hard to get anywhere else.
It was so refreshing to meet like minded people that Ginette had brought together. … I loved the stone circle especially as the sun was setting.
She’s so helpful, kind and welcoming, and always makes you feel comfortable. … I’ve really enjoyed every one.
Thank you for the very informative walk, making it accessible for me and my dodgy back. I will be booking again.
We absolutely loved it! … The weather certainly hasn’t put us off and we will definitely be booking on future ones!

Every upcoming hike is listed with its date, grade and price, and you book on Eventbrite.
I have been on so many of Ginette’s walks and I’ve loved them all. She is fun, friendly and very knowledgeable. I often go solo and it’s been great to meet other people who enjoy adventures outdoors.

You’re very welcome to message me before booking, whether it’s about the route, your fitness or coming on your own.
Once you’ve booked a walk, ask me to add you to the WhatsApp group. New dates go there first, and walkers share lifts and photos.
Most questions are about fitness, coming on your own and what happens if the weather turns. If yours isn’t here, please send me a message.
It depends on the hike, because distance and terrain vary. Easy hikes are around 5 km, about two and a half hours, with a few short climbs, and most fitness levels manage them. Moderate hikes run up to 12 miles or have longer hill sections, so they suit you once 5 km feels easy. Challenging hikes suit regular walkers who would like to push their boundaries. We always go at the group’s pace, with plenty of stops.
[Answer to write together.]
Yes. Every Eventbrite listing says whether a hike is women only, mixed or for families. Women-only hikes are open to all women.
Some start and finish points have toilets, and some don’t, as we walk through hills and moorland. Each Eventbrite listing says which before you book. Where there are none, I’ll point out a suitable spot for a wild wee along the way.
Yes, every child under 18 walks with a parent or guardian for the whole hike. Parents and carers stay with their child at all times and are responsible for their behaviour. I’m responsible for safety, group management and emergencies.
No, Hike and Yoga suits beginners. Some people bring a microfibre towel or a foldable yoga mat, and some go without and embrace nature.

This notice explains what personal information I collect when you book or walk with McG’s Tors and Moor, why I need it, who else handles it and how long I keep it.
Last updated: [date].
McG’s Tors and Moor is run by me, Ginette McGrory, as a sole trader based in Calverton, Nottinghamshire. I decide how your information is used, which makes me the controller under UK data protection law. You can contact me at ginette@mcgstorsandmoor.uk or 07506 492230.
| What I collect | Why I use it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Booking details through Eventbrite, such as your name, email address and ticket | To manage your booking and tell you about meeting points or changes | Contract: you have booked a walk |
| Your Health Declaration and consents form | To keep you safe on the walk and help in an emergency | Contract, plus your explicit consent for health details [PROPOSED] |
| Your emergency contact’s details | To reach someone if you are hurt or unwell | [PROPOSED: legitimate interests, in keeping everyone safe] |
| Emails, calls and messages | To answer your questions | [PROPOSED: legitimate interests, in replying to you] |
| Your name and phone number in my WhatsApp community group | To share new dates, lift sharing and photos after walks, once you have asked to join | [PROPOSED: consent] |
| Photos taken on walks | See my photo consent policy | Consent |
| Reviews, with your first name and town | To show on my website, with your permission | Consent |
You need to fill in the Health Declaration and consents form to take part in a walk. The photo and video consent tick on that form is separate and optional, and it is not a condition of joining. Everything else is your choice.
[PROPOSED: I do not sell your information, and I do not use it to make automated decisions about you.]
Health details are a special category of information under the law, so I take extra care with them. Before each walk, my online Health Declaration and consents form asks for your name, age, phone number and an emergency contact. It asks only about your health now: any conditions, medication or allergies that could affect you on a walk, and any injury or illness in the last 6 months that might affect your walking. Your GP’s details and your tetanus status are optional questions.
I only ask for what I need to keep you safe. I use your health details with your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the health consent box on the form. [PROPOSED: UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b) contract, with Article 9(2)(a) explicit consent for the health details.] If there is an emergency and you cannot give consent, I may share what I need to with paramedics or other emergency services to protect you. [PROPOSED: Article 9(2)(c) vital interests for that emergency sharing.]
Children and young people under 18 always walk with a parent or guardian, who fills in the form for them. The form also has a separate, optional tick box for photo and video consent, which is not a condition of joining a walk.
Only I can see your health form. I keep forms in a Google Form and its linked Google Sheet, in my Google Workspace business account, which uses two-step sign-in [Workspace account email to confirm]. Booking details sit in Eventbrite and my email, and phone numbers and email addresses sit in WhatsApp and my Google Workspace business account.
These companies store or handle information for me:

| WhatsApp (Meta) | My community group and messages |
| Facebook and Instagram (Meta) | Where I share photos of walks |
| Fasthosts | My ginette@mcgstorsandmoor.uk email address, which Fasthosts provides |
I only share your information with anyone else when I need to:

You can ask me to:
Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, and that does not affect anything I did before. Please contact me at ginette@mcgstorsandmoor.uk. It is free, and I will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first and I will try to put it right. I will confirm I have received your complaint within 30 days.
